Meet the person behind the brush
A calm hand, and a proper finish.
Matchgora began with Lara Gora, a decorator who spent a decade restoring old plasterwork and painted joinery in Somerset homes. In 2012, she started taking on whole-room projects with one simple rule, leave every home cleaner than it was found.
Today Lara works alongside Ben Carter and Mae Collins. The three of us prepare thoroughly, test colour in your own light and take time over the edges, woodwork and final clean. It is unglamorous work, and it makes all the difference.

If you have a specific question, Lara is happy to talk it through on a visit.
Do you provide the paint?
Yes. Our quote includes the agreed trade-quality paint, sundries and protection materials. We can also work with a paint you have already chosen.
How long will my room be out of action?
Most single rooms take 2-4 working days, depending on preparation and drying time. We will give you a day-by-day plan before we start.
Can you help us choose colours?
Absolutely. We bring large sample cards and test pots to your home so you can see colours in your own daylight and evening light.
Do I need to move furniture?
Small items and valuables should be cleared beforehand. We move and cover larger furniture carefully, then put it back once the work is complete.
Which areas do you cover?
